How to Seek and Live in the Presence of God Every Day

Seeking the Presence of God

There’s something about God’s presence that changes everything.

You know that moment when you walk into a room and everything shifts? When you sense something holy and real, and suddenly your worries feel smaller? That’s what we’re talking about this month. God’s presence isn’t just a nice idea or a feeling we chase on Sunday mornings. It’s the very atmosphere of heaven touching earth. It’s where life happens the way God meant it to.

Moses understood this. When God told him to lead the Israelites forward, Moses said something that should stop us in our tracks: “If Your presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here” (Exodus 33:15). Think about that. Moses would rather stay put than move forward without God’s presence. He knew something we often forget: success without God’s presence is just empty motion.

David got it too. He wrote, “You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore” (Psalm 16:11). Fullness of joy. Not partial joy. Not temporary happiness. Fullness. And it’s found in one place – His presence.

Why This Matters Now

We live in a world that’s loud. Notifications ping. Deadlines press. Problems pile up. We’re busy, tired, and often running on empty. And somewhere in all that noise, we’ve lost something precious. We’ve lost the art of being with God.

But here’s the truth: God never meant for us to live this way. He didn’t save us just to leave us struggling through life in our own strength. He saved us for communion. For connection. For relationship. Jesus didn’t die on the cross so we could have a distant pen-pal relationship with heaven. He tore the veil so we could walk into the Holy of Holies anytime we want.

That’s not just theology. That’s an invitation.

The writer of Hebrews puts it like this: “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16). Boldly. Not timidly. Not once in a while. Not when we’ve got our act together. Boldly. Right now. Just as we are.

What Happens in His Presence

God’s presence does things that nothing else can do.

It brings peace that doesn’t make sense. Paul calls it “the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding” (Philippians 4:7). You know that peace? The kind that settles over you even when circumstances haven’t changed? That’s what His presence does.

It brings clarity. When you’re close to God, things that seemed confusing start to make sense. Decisions that felt impossible become clear. James promises, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him” (James 1:5). That wisdom flows in His presence.

It brings power. Real power. Not the fake-it-till-you-make-it kind. Jesus told His disciples, “You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you” (Acts 1:8). That power is available. Right now. In His presence.

It brings transformation. Paul wrote, “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord” (2 Corinthians 3:18). You want to change? Stop trying so hard and start spending time with God. His presence does what willpower can’t.

It brings joy. Not the surface-level happiness that depends on circumstances. Deep joy. Nehemiah said, “The joy of the Lord is your strength” (Nehemiah 8:10). That joy bubbles up when you’re close to Him.

The Promise of His Nearness

Here’s what God wants you to know: He’s not far away. He’s not hiding. He’s not waiting for you to get perfect before He shows up.

James 4:8 says, “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” That’s a promise. You take one step toward Him, and He runs toward you. You open your heart an inch, and He floods in.

Jesus said, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me” (Revelation 3:20). He’s knocking. Right now. On your heart’s door. He wants to come in. He wants to sit with you. Talk with you. Be with you.

God isn’t reluctant. He’s eager. He’s the Father in the prodigal son story, watching the road, waiting for His child to come home. And the moment He sees you turning His way, He’s already running.

What We’re Doing This Month

This month, we’re going all in on this topic. We’re not just talking about God’s presence. We’re pursuing it. We’re learning to live in it. We’re making it our focus.

We’ve prepared some resources to help you on this journey:

Prayer Guide on Living in the Presence of God – Prayer is how we enter His presence. But sometimes we need help knowing what to pray. This guide will walk you through prayers that open your heart and invite God in. Prayers that position you to hear His voice and feel His touch.

Bible Studies on Seeking and Living in the Presence of God – We’re going deep into Scripture. What does the Bible really say about God’s presence? How did people in the Bible experience it? What can we learn from them? These studies will ground you in God’s Word and show you what He’s promised.

Discipleship Guide: What Does It Look Like to Live in the Presence of God in Our Daily Lives? – This is where the rubber meets the road. How do you live in God’s presence when you’re at work? When you’re dealing with difficult people? When you’re tired and overwhelmed? This guide gives practical answers.

Practical Living Tips: How Do We Practically Seek God’s Presence and Live in It Daily? – These are the simple, doable steps you can take right now. Not complicated spiritual gymnastics. Just real practices that real people can do to stay connected to God all day long.

Each piece builds on the others. Together, they’ll help you make this month a turning point in your walk with God.

The Life You Were Made For

God didn’t create you to just survive. He created you to thrive. To overflow. To live from a place of connection with Him that makes everything else fall into place.

Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). Abundant life. Not scarce life. Not barely-getting-by life. Abundant life. And that abundance flows from His presence.

Think about the people in Scripture who lived in God’s presence. They didn’t just survive. They flourished. They did impossible things. They saw miracles. They heard God’s voice. They walked in power and authority. Not because they were special, but because they stayed close to the Source.

Enoch “walked with God” (Genesis 5:24). Noah “walked with God” (Genesis 6:9). Abraham was called God’s friend (James 2:23). Moses spoke with God “face to face, as a man speaks to his friend” (Exodus 33:11). David was a man after God’s own heart (Acts 13:22).

What made them different? They prioritised God’s presence. They made it their aim. Their goal. Their pursuit. And God met them there.

The Choice Before You

You’re at a crossroads right now. You can keep doing what you’ve been doing. Keep running on empty. Keep trying to figure life out on your own. Keep settling for less than what God has for you.

Or you can make a different choice.

You can decide that this month – this year – will be different. That you’re done with surface-level Christianity. That you want more. That you need more. That you won’t settle for anything less than the real, tangible, life-changing presence of God.

Moses made that choice. He said to God, “Please, show me Your glory” (Exodus 33:18). He wasn’t satisfied with second-hand stories. He wanted to see for himself. To know for himself. To experience for himself.

God honoured that hunger. He always does.

What This Requires

Let’s be honest. Pursuing God’s presence requires something from you. It requires your time. Your attention. Your heart.

You can’t drift into God’s presence. You can’t stumble into it by accident. You have to seek it. Jesus said, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Matthew 6:33). Seek first. Not seek eventually. Not seek when it’s convenient. Seek first.

David wrote, “As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God” (Psalm 42:1-2). That’s hunger. That’s desperation. That’s what it looks like to really want God.

But here’s the good news: God rewards those who seek Him. Hebrews 11:6 says, “He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Diligent seeking gets rewarded. Always.

A Vision for Your Future

Imagine what your life could look like a month from now. Six months from now. A year from now.

Imagine waking up with a sense of peace because you started your day in God’s presence. Imagine facing challenges with confidence because you know He’s with you. Imagine having wisdom for decisions because you’re hearing His voice. Imagine walking in power because you’re filled with His Spirit. Imagine experiencing joy even in hard times because His presence is your strength.

That’s not fantasy. That’s available. That’s what God wants for you.

Paul prayed “that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height – to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God” (Ephesians 3:17-19).

Filled with all the fullness of God. That’s the vision. That’s the goal. That’s what’s possible when you live in His presence.

The Month Ahead

Every resource we’re sharing this month is designed to help you get there. To help you go deeper. To help you experience more of God than you ever have before.

But the resources won’t do it for you. You have to show up. You have to engage. You have to make the choice every single day to seek Him.

God is waiting. He’s ready. He’s eager to meet with you. To speak to you. To touch you. To change you. To fill you.

The question is: Are you ready?

Are you ready to stop settling? To stop making excuses? To stop putting God in a box labelled “Sunday morning”?

Are you ready to pursue Him with everything you have? To make His presence your priority? To let Him become the centre of your life instead of just a part of it?

Your Next Step

Here’s what I want you to do right now. Not later. Not when you finish reading. Right now.

Stop and pray. Tell God you’re hungry for more of Him. Tell Him you want to experience His presence in a fresh, powerful way. Ask Him to meet you. To reveal Himself to you. To teach you what it means to live in His presence.

Then commit to using the resources we’re providing this month. Don’t just read them and forget about them. Work through them. Study them. Apply them. Let them guide you into deeper places with God.

Set aside time every day to seek God. Not just a quick prayer before meals. Real time. Time to be still. Time to listen. Time to worship. Time to read His Word. Time to let His presence fill you.

Find other people who are hungry for God and walk this journey together. Share what you’re learning. Pray together. Encourage each other. God works powerfully when His people come together with one heart and one purpose.

The Promise Standing Before You

Jesus said, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened” (Matthew 7:7-8).

That’s a promise. Ask and you’ll receive. Seek and you’ll find. Knock and the door will open.

God isn’t holding back. He’s not making you jump through hoops. He’s not waiting for you to prove yourself. He’s already made the way through Jesus. The veil is torn. The door is open. The invitation is extended.

All that’s left is for you to walk through.

This Is Your Moment

Some moments in life are bigger than others. This could be one of those moments for you. The moment you stop treating God’s presence as optional and start treating it as essential. The moment you stop living on spiritual leftovers and start feasting at His table. The moment everything changes.

Moses said, “If Your presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here.” Make that your declaration. Decide that you won’t go anywhere or do anything without God’s presence. That you won’t settle for programmes or activities or empty religion. That you want Him and nothing less will do.

David said, “One thing I have desired of the Lord, that will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in His temple” (Psalm 27:4). One thing. Not ten things. Not a spiritual to-do list. One thing. God’s presence.

Make that your one thing this month, this year. Let everything else flow from that. Watch what God does when you make Him your priority. Watch how He shows up. Watch how He transforms you. Watch how He fills you with His Spirit and His power and His joy.

Your Life Is About to Change

I’m declaring it right now. As you seek God’s presence this month and through this new year, your life is about to change. Things that have held you back are about to break. Walls that have kept you from experiencing God are about to come down. Dry places are about to flood with His Spirit.

God is about to do something new in you. Isaiah 43:19 says, “Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”

A road in the wilderness. Rivers in the desert. That’s what God does when His presence shows up. He makes a way where there was no way. He brings life where there was death. He brings hope where there was despair.

That’s what’s coming for you. Get ready.

So Here We Go

This month, we’re seeking God’s presence. We’re learning to live in it. We’re letting it transform everything about how we walk with God.

Use the Bible studies. Work through the prayer guide. Read the discipleship guide. Apply the practical tips. But most importantly, show up every single day ready to meet with God. Ready to hear from Him. Ready to be changed by Him.

He’s waiting for you. He’s calling you. He’s ready to meet you in ways you’ve never experienced before.

Don’t miss this. Don’t waste this opportunity. Don’t let another month slip by where you settle for less than what God has for you.

Your Father is waiting. His presence is ready. The door is open.

Now it’s your turn to walk through.
